Hall Park McCullough collection, 1735-1962.

Collection includes a wide range of documents relating to the history of Vermont and surrounding areas from the late 18th century to the mid-19th century. The earliest records relate to the conflict with New York State over land titles, the early settlement of Bennington, and the Revolutionary War, particularly the Battle of Bennington. The social and economic life of Vermont is documented through assorted legal records, business records, church records, property records, school records, and town records. The collection includes Civil War letters from Vermont volunteers as well as correspondence from many prominent Vermonters such as Hiland Hall, John G. McCullough, Trenor W. Park, Solomon Foot, and Edward John Phelps. The largest group of personal papers in the collection is from the Robinson family of Bennington, particularly Col. David Robinson (one of the first settlers), his son David Robinson, Jr., and George W. Robinson. A small group of papers documents Hall Park McCullough's collecting activities and his contributions to the Bennington Museum.
